Imagine a world where technology enables a better education for all
Worldwide Imagine Cup grew in size with more and more students and more and more countries signing up for the challenge. This year over 100000 students from around the world took part and from Sri Lanka there were over 600 registrations. This year Microsoft challenged students to build software solutions to enable edition for all.

Imagine Cup consist of several competition categories and Short Film is among them. This year
Sri Lanka made it to the 'world top' as a team of BICT
undergraduates from University of Colombo
School of Computing made it to the
world top 6 in the Short Film category. This was the first time a team from Sri Lanka made it to
world top 6 level in Imagine Cup. Film they produced 'The Little Girl' caught attention of everybody involved in Imagine Cup. This team also made it to the world finals held later @ Seoul Korea and they faced the 36 hour onsite challenge. Team
Tear consisted of Jayanath Galahitigama, Tharaka Jayasekara, Isura Sandaruwan and Ishara Perera. Team mentors were Dr. Ruvan Weerasinghe and Mr. Leonard Rajith Joseph. Later team tear also joined the world finals.
